World History
Turning points that changed how many people lived, one question at a time: a 3D history globe, a timeline that shows what was happening in other places at the same moment, and an honest look at how we know.
World history is too big to finish. This series does not try. It picks turning points, the moments that changed how many people lived, and asks one question in each lesson: Why did people start farming? What traveled along the Silk Road? Why did ships sail around the world?
Every lesson has a parallel timeline with seven lanes, so you can see what was happening in other parts of the world at the same time, and four cards that never change: How do we know? Different accounts. History English. And Taiwan at that time, which ties the wider world back to this island.
The lessons are written in English with a Chinese translation beside every paragraph, for upper elementary and junior high students, for teachers of bilingual classes, and for anyone who is curious. The series stops around the year 2000; what came after is still too close to see clearly.
5 of 28 lessons are ready so far; more are on the way.

Then see on a map how farming began separately in many parts of the world, and weigh what people gained and what they gave up. Start the lesson · 開始上課 →Why Did People Invent Writing?

Then find on a map the few places where writing began on its own, and discover the trick that let pictures write down names and speech. Start the lesson · 開始上課 →Why Did the First Cities Grow Beside Rivers?
Raise the Great Pyramid course by course in 3D and test four ideas about how its blocks were lifted. Then find on a map the rivers where the first cities grew, and sort out what a river gave a city, and what trouble it brought.

Six promises
History is easy to bend. These are the rules every lesson follows, so that you can check us against them.
Facts with sources, and no side taken
Each lesson lists where its facts come from. Where historians disagree, the accounts are set side by side and the lesson does not pick a winner.
No center, and no ranking沒有中心,也不排名
Africa, Asia, the Americas, Europe, and Oceania all have lessons of their own. No people are called advanced or backward; each lesson asks how people answered the place and the problems they had.
Religions are told as history宗教當作歷史來寫
The lessons keep three things apart: what believers hold, what tradition says, and what written and archaeological sources show. Every faith is treated with respect, and none is compared with another.
Slavery, colonial rule, world wars, and genocide are part of the story. The lessons say what happened, why it matters, and how people remember it, without graphic detail. Where estimates differ, they are shown together with their sources.
Maps are approximate, and say so地圖只畫大約,而且會說明
Old empires and old routes had no sharp edges. The globe shows rough extents with their dates and sources, and never draws today's borders onto the past.
The story can change故事會被修改
New finds overturn old dates. The lessons say “about,” “researchers estimate,” and “the evidence so far” because that is the honest state of what is known.
