What Acupuncture Points Actually Are
A light switch, not the wiring itself — what an acupuncture point is, without naming or teaching any.

Unit 24: What Acupuncture Points Actually Are
An acupuncture point is best understood as a specific, mapped location along a meridian where the flow of qi is considered especially accessible — a place where stimulation reliably produces an effect somewhere else along that same meridian's path. There are roughly 360 commonly used points across the twelve main meridians, each with its own name, location, and traditional set of effects, built up through the same centuries of clinical observation that produced the meridian map itself.
A useful comparison is a light switch versus the wiring behind a wall. The meridian is the wiring — the path along which influence travels, mostly hidden. An acupuncture point is like a switch: a specific, accessible spot where a person can interact with that hidden system to produce an effect, without needing to see or touch the wiring itself. Just as flipping a switch in one room can turn on a light in a completely different room, stimulating a point on the foot can be intended to affect an organ deep in the torso.
This course will not name specific points or teach anyone to use them — locating and stimulating a point safely and appropriately is a skill that takes years of supervised training, and doing it incorrectly is not harmless. What matters here is understanding the concept clearly enough to make sense of what a practitioner is actually doing during treatment, and to know that acupuncture is a precise, trained skill — not a matter of poking anywhere that seems to hurt.
